Two cue balls (one white and one yellow) and a red object ball are used. It is a foul to touch, move or change the path of any object ball except by the normal ball-toball contacts during shots. However, it is allowed to execute jump shots with the complete cue. 5.13.3 - Jump Shot. Combinations of the above may all be scored on the same shot. The game does retain some popularity amongst snooker players, who can use the same equipment for both games and play the game to practise ball control. You can buy a kubb kit online or in many hardware stores. There's more to kubb than immediately meets the eye, though. If this is successful and more balls are pocketed, they count. If a player announces a safety and a ball is pocketed, the opponent can also refuse. The most that can be scored in a single shot is therefore 10 - the red and the other cue ball are both potted via a cannon (the red must be struck first), and the cue ball is also potted, making a losing hazard off the red.

To see who will be the starting player, players perform a lag, where both simultaneously hit a cue ball up the table, bouncing it off the top cushion so that it returns to baulk (the first quarter-length of the table). For example, it may be necessary to move a rack in progress to a different table, in which case a stalemate may be declared if a position cannot be transferred. The one goes to the very front on the base, the two and the three to the back two corners of the rack and the 15 as the most valuable ball to the center. There are three balls. There is one exception to this rule: if the non-striker's ball is off the table as a result of the final stroke of the non-striker’s last turn. It happens when the object balls have been racked and the cue ball is played from behind the head string usually with the intent of breaking the rack apart. The remaining balls are placed randomly within the rack. If the 10 ball is pocketed while other balls are still on the table, it is re-spotted.

The referee should ensure that interference is prevented, for example by a spectator or a player on an adjacent table, and may suspend play as needed. If an opponent's cue ball is potted, it remains off the table until it is that opponent's turn to play, when it is returned to that player, who may play it in-hand from the "D". To start, the player who could strike a ball at one end of the table and get the ball to come to rest nearest the opposite cushion without lying against it earned the right to shoot for points first. The first governing body of the game, the Billiards Association, was formed in the UK in 1885, a period that saw a number of sporting bodies founded across the British sporting world. By 1915 the game had become rather popular, prompting American billiard hall proprietors of the period to increase the number of English-style tables in their establishments. 2 points. This influence on the English game appears to have come about through the popularity of French tables in English coffee houses; London alone had over two thousand such establishments in the early 18th century.

Losing hazard (in-off in snooker terms) - striking one's cue ball so that it hits another ball and then enters a pocket: 3 points if the red ball was hit first; 2 points if the other cue ball was hit first; 2 points if the red and the other cue ball are hit simultaneously. If this does not happen, then the opposing player must be given the option of either leaving the ball where it lies or replacing the ball as near as possible to its original position to the agreement of both players. After a no-hit foul, that is, when a player has failed to hit the lowest ball on the table with a correct shot, 10 ball billiards rules the player entitled to take the shot can either take it as it lies or take a spot shot himself. Neglecting safety plays can be a costly oversight in the 10-ball pool. In this way, you can also do something with balls that are close to a pocket and cannot be played as a bank shot. Flukes-shots that go in an unintended pocket (usually by random chance)-do not count; if a player pockets only balls other than the nominated ball, or pockets the nominated ball in the wrong pocket, the pocketed balls stay down, but the shooter's turn is over, as though they missed the shot completely.
