World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. This value is the total of all the leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's a sign of the item's condition and quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock is possible using the item level.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of the Best item upgrader's level is done. One theory states that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

It's not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item upgrade's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage, special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to differentiate them by adding a name.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item upgrading are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-Best item upgrade level, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of those properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances that increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it is not successful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item may influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item upgrader kit with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (on front page) CORE client config.
