Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be inserted. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade items component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much they'll increase after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a high risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

In the final game you'll often discover that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Leveling

The item upgrade (try these guys) system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a different Best item upgrade of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a disadvantage in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state and the player having to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. The player will need to bring each piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade item costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires an individual amount of ingredients for upgrading.
