Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album it was a return to a classic sextet structure and it was a more consistent, more powerful album with a sharper edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball's growing ability to play was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was sharper, more intricate and less cloned earlier recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live concert that was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set titled Falling In Between. The studio album came out a few months later, and the group embarked on a world-wide tour in support of the album. In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old demos and tapes in search of a new album featuring songs that were never recorded before. By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity.
