World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This value is the total of all its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its value. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable an item's stats really are. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the item upgrader kit's value. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This is not the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade item costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher costs.

Another way to change the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run than later ones because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of the item up to 140.

Additionally some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be found in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
